This was super cool, loved that there was a story as well!! Really cool lil mechanic. My only nitpick is that i wish the two characters were a more distinct color. I kept mixing the characters, esp near the end(i dunno how that works either, getting worse as i play lol)
But other than that, this game's legit awesome. well done!!

Thank you! I played around with making them more distinct but I couldn't figure out a good way to with the colour palette I used rip

Pretty decent game, tho there's not really too much going on which is fine but there doesn't seem to be anything to really keep you playing other than self-satisfaction. I think adding a leader board(even just a personal one) would already help a bit. Anything to keep you playing for a bit longer.

The red balls also don't give you much time to react when they spawn super close to you. By the time you realize they're there you're already dead. Otherwise they're barely a threat. It makes the game feel more luck-based than skill-based.

Graphic-wise, the game looks simple but charming. I really like the lava you got going on, you can just tell that it's lava. It looks good! Though I wish there was a bit more juice to the game, just some simple sound effects or showing the player explode or something when dying would already add a lot! Rn the game just stops if you die, which feels really flat.

One final thing I noticed is that the player is still affected by the platform's rotation even if they're jumping. So if the platform is leaning to the right, the player in mid-air will also drift to the right.

Other than that, this is a step in the right direction! It's a decent game, but I'd be lying if I said I didn't find it amusing. Good job!

I am working on the problem in which the red balls are just above you.
All the fixes will be implemented when V1.1 is released!

There's so much effort put into this game, it's really well crafted! It's a lot of fun to play, especially as waves get more hectic! The graphics are charming and the music getting more intense as things get going is a nice touch!
The controls are a lil bit awkward tho, having both shoot and dash on the same button. I noticed that dashing isn't super responsive, which made me hesitant to use it and ultimately caused my death. I don't think it'd be too much to just make them separate buttons.
This is a very well made game though, excellent work!

jefvel responds:

Thank you! I had a personal goal of making the a game with as simple controls as possible, so that's why it was space only to both fire and dodge. You can also use Z/X or J/K too, I just haven't had time to add that info :)

Glad you like it!

Really cool recreation! It captures the feeling of the show well!
The only complaint I have is that the game could be SLIGHTLY more lenient with letting you stop. It's really obvious the (good) AI player stop just before the doll begins to turn around, if you're even a hair later than them you're dead before the doll should even see you. My best playthrough ended up being when I just guessed when the doll would turn around.
High difficulty aside, this is a good recreation. I wouldn't mind seeing some kinda multiplayer mode!

At the end of the game, it is no longer possible to react to head movement. This is intentional. You are a hardcore player if you can beat this shit <3

The graphics and animations are very nice! They're pleasing to look at and smooth as butter. You can tell a lot of effort went into this. The gameplay is simple, but it works well. I think this games pulled off the "one button control scheme" the best, it doesn't feel like a hindrance much. The level design is challenging, but not rage inducing. The only thing that confuses me is that there is no music? I feel a quiet ambience track would really add a lot.
Great job!

ost comming soon

This is prolly the best game in the jam so far. Love all the aesthetics, they all really come together to form that snazzy jazzy feel. The projectile being a trampoline/cappy sorta platform is a cool mechanic. You guys did a great job with this game, props to the team!
The level design, though not terrible, does still leave much to be desired. Enemy on small platform you have to step on isn't the best imo.
I also think what would have really helped the silent film feel is if you saw the usual sound effects pop out whenever you do an action. Have Louie say "ouch!" when he gets hit, or a "boing!" pop out when he jumps. Not just for the clouds. It could perhaps get the vibe more to the forefront!

Joe-Mega responds:

Ah man, thanks for all the kind words!
And thanks for the useful criticism!

I like the idea of being coming after the cloud pops, I may just implement that in future versions!

makes games and doodles cuties🐇💕... Well, sometimes at least!
